2018!! New Year Greeting from BBICollege Japanese Language

In Japanese? にほんごで?

「あけまして おめでとうございます」

You know what 「おめでとうございます」 means, right?

But what 「あけまして」 came from?

「あけまして」, 「あけます」 is its masu-form, means:

  1. To become bright, to become morning
  2. To become a next stage after certain duration of time
  3. To become a new year

Overall, you can image that something becomes new.

So literally, 「あけまして おめでとうございます」 is ‘Congratulations for becoming new year’.

Now you can use this to your Japanese teacher/friends!

「あけまして おめでとう」 is casual way, btw.

How was your Christmas holiday?

Hope all you guys had a good one.

I’m still on a holiday in Japan.

Sorry for my students to start your lesson one week delay.

So here are some photos that you can feel Japanese holiday a little bit!!

See you in class/school shortly, guys!!!
