Interview with Shawn-san

Congratulations on passing N2, Shawn-san!

Q. Why did you get this qualification?

A. In preparation for taking a photography course in a Japanese school.

Q. How long did you study before passing?

A. I studied for about for 2 years.

Q. Which class do you take in BBIC?

A. I took private lesson.

Q. How many hours did you take the lessons?

A. I took six hours a week.

Q. How much self-study did you do?

A. I dedicated about three hours a day.

Q. What were the difficult points of studying for JLPT?

A. Remembering all the Kanjis and vocabularies

Q. How did BBIC help you in preparing for the JLPT?

A. The level I took (JLPT N2) was higher than what I had been studying in group class before (around JLPT N3), so I switched to private lessons. While self-studying new material, my lessons help me revise and consolidate what I’ve learnt.

Q. What do you like about Japan?

A. I love anime, traditional Japanese culture, the environment, the architecture, Japanese-style houses, and Japanese-made cameras. I really admire how Japanese people preserve their traditions.

Q. What is something you’re glad about being able to speak Japanese?

A. I went to an event where I could interact with Japanese people, and being able to speak Japanese allowed me to connect with them more closely.

Q. Do you have any advice for those who are considering enrolling in BBIC?

A. Enrolling in classes at BBIC is a great way to guide your Japanese learning journey, helping you find a pace where you can constantly challenge yourself while enjoying the process. It’s also important to engage in interactions and practice output as much as possible, both inside and outside of class.

As Shawn-san spoke about Japan, his eyes sparkled with excitement. You could truly feel his passion! It’s clear that studying Japanese has opened his eyes to the beauty of Japan, and we hope his story inspires you to learn more about this amazing country.
