For the final post in our review series, we would like to share the experience of David, who has been studying with us since the beginner level.

We know it’s not always easy to keep studying for a long time, and we truly appreciate his commitment.

Q1. What originally made you choose BBIC, and what is the main reason you continue studying here?

BBIC offers flexible classtimes with availability of evening classes on weekdays allow working professionals like myself to pursue this interest.

The location is in the heart of the CBD and easily accessible from my office and the nearest train station.

Q2. What do you like most about the teachers or the course you are taking?

I like that the courses are structured in bite sized terms that cover grammar, vocabulary and most importantly, speaking skills. They are comprehensive but not overwhelming.

I have nothing but high praise for the teachers at BBIC. Both Sae-sensei and Minako-sensei have created an encouraging and safe space for enthuastic learners to continue flourishing their love for the Japanese language.

Q3. Even with a busy schedule, what helps you continue learning Japanese consistently?

The classroom provides a safe and fun environment to learn Japanese. You will undoubtedly make friends along the way and the communal experience makes it enriching. I continue learning Japanese consistently because it brings me joy to learn Japanese with the new friends I’ve made in the classroom.

Q4. Since you started studying at BBIC, what improvements have you noticed in your Japanese skills or confidence?

I love watching Japanese films and songs. I am now able to catch more words and nuances in the language that I would’ve previously missed before I started learning Japanese.

It’s given the Japanese movies and songs that I enjoyed in the past a new life.

Q5. Has your motivation or attitude toward learning Japanese changed since joining BBIC? If so, how?

Yes, I was initially self studying Japanese but started to plateau very quickly. The classes at BBIC have a fun atmosphere that keep me motivated and the learning enjoyable. The material you take home helps to reinforce the learning and mastery over the language.

Q6. If you were to recommend BBIC to someone interested in learning Japanese, what would you say?

You only have to gain! Take a leap of faith and you’ll find yourself learning Japanese very quickly and making life long friends along way.

Q7. Have you had opportunities to use Japanese outside the classroom (such as at work, with friends, or while traveling)?   If so, was there a moment when you felt, “I learned this in class,” and found it useful?

I have used several phrases that I learned in Japanese class with my Japanese colleagues and it’s helped us to deepen our working relationship. ( お疲れ様でした！)

When I am in Japan, I am very excited when I go to  Japanese restaurants because I can now read the menu without relying on Google Translate.
