Learning Tips for Japanese Episode5: Onomatopoeia オノマトペ

Our manager got strained his back last Monday.

He could not move for three days.

Look how he walks…..

(*´艸`*)

In Japanese, we call strained back 「ぎっくり腰(Gikkuri-goshi)」

ぎっくり means to get surprised unexpectedly.

Last night, Advanced3 class studied how to describe different types of pains with Onomatopoeia.

Let’s take a look.

I have a backache. =「こしが いたいです。」

こしが ズンズン いたいです。

「ズンズン」 express a sound when heavy objects hit.

ガンガン image is like this.

So, 「こしが ズンズン いたいです。」 shows you have a heavy/big backache.

「こしが ズキズキ いたいです。」

ズキズキ is a sound when vines are beating.

You feel like your head is like heart beating.

So 「こしが ズキズキ いたいです」 shows partly/sharp backache.

You can use for a pain when you cut.
